For eight years, Ramabai had watched the world slowly blur. The saree weaving that had supported her family became impossible, and even the short walk to the village temple grew dangerous. A cataract had taken her independence long before it took her sight.
At our free eye camp in Yavatmal, she was examined, counselled and scheduled for surgery within a week — all at no cost, with transportation arranged by our volunteers. The surgery was a complete success.
Today Ramabai is back at her loom, and she makes it a point to greet every volunteer by name. 'You gave me back my world,' she says. Her story is one of over 12,000 free cataract surgeries funded by our donors.
